Simple Solution for Canker Sore Pain

Even if you have never seen one, the name alone is enough to make you think of something hideous. The sight of one can make you immediately go in search of a few solutions.

While the canker sore is benign or non-cancerous, it is unsightly and painful and, as we said, the name doesn’t exactly roll nicely off the tongue. It is an open sore in the mouth, and is usually white or yellow and encircled by a red border.

While they will eventually go away on their own, here are some simple solutions for canker sore pain that may lessen the time you have to endure them, and these remedies may also reduce some of the discomfort associated with the obtrusions:

Salt water gargles are one of the easy to prepare treatments. Some people who have used these say warm salt water swished around inside the mouth helped to relieve pain and reduced the length of time the sores remained.

Along the same vein as the use of salt water is the hydrogen peroxide gargle. The hydrogen peroxide is also intended to relieve pain and stimulate healing inside the mouth.

Other solutions that are used to relieve pain include topical anesthetics. These limit pain, irritation and itching. Corticosteroid ointments may also be used to speed healing.

There are several herbal remedies such as goldenseal and myrrh that are promoted as good treatment for this condition. These herbs are made into teas and then a compress is soaked in the tea before being applied to the affected area. Tannic acid, which is found in tea bags, can also be an effective remedy. The acid dries out the sores, eventually, healing them completely.

With these simple solutions for canker sore pain, you should have no problem getting rid of the condition, and making it more bearable while it lasts.
